Lightning Roulette at Vegas Now is Evolution’s live roulette table with one addition: on a European single-zero wheel, numbered 1 to 36 plus 0, one to five Lightning Numbers are struck each round with random multipliers of 50× to 500×. A straight-up bet pays 29:1, or the multiplier if its number is a Lightning Number; every other bet pays as standard roulette. Our live-casino lobby also lists XXXTreme Lightning Roulette as a separate table. This page covers the original: how a round works, what the published figures mean in dollars, how roulette counts toward bonus wagering at 25% and toward loyalty at 1 point per $100, and why a live table is a slow way to clear a bonus.

How a round of Lightning Roulette works

The table is run live by a presenter, and the wheel is the European layout: 36 numbered pockets and a single zero, 37 in all. During the betting window you place chips on the layout exactly as on any roulette table. A straight-up bet covers one number. The other bets cover groups of numbers: the splits, streets, corners and lines on the inside of the layout, and the dozens, columns, colours, odd or even and high or low on the outside.

Each round, between one and five numbers are struck by lightning, and each is given a multiplier drawn at random from 50× to 500×. The presenter spins the wheel and the ball settles in one pocket. Settlement then follows three rules. A straight-up bet on the winning number pays 29:1 if that number is not a Lightning Number. If it is a Lightning Number, the straight-up bet pays the multiplier instead. Every other bet on the layout pays at the standard roulette rate for that bet, Lightning Number or not.

The multipliers belong to straight-up bets alone. That is the line to hold in mind on this page: a bet on red, a dozen or a column is never multiplied, and a straight-up bet on a number that was not struck pays 29:1 and nothing more.

Two figures are deliberately absent. Evolution’s page for the table does not state a return-to-player percentage, so none is given here; and the specifications of XXXTreme Lightning Roulette are shown on that table’s own rules screen rather than on this page. Any return-to-player figure for a roulette game is in any case a long-run average, not a session promise.

Bet types and payouts, with worked examples

A straight-up bet has three possible outcomes, and the published figures let each be priced exactly. Take $1 on a single number. If the ball lands elsewhere, the $1 is lost. If it lands on your number and the number was not struck, the bet pays 29:1: $29 in winnings for the $1 staked. If your number was a Lightning Number, the bet pays the multiplier: $50 at the smallest multiplier, $500 at the largest, and a figure between the two for anything in between.

The same arithmetic at AUD 8, the maximum bet while a bonus is active, gives the figures in the table.

Outcome for a straight-up bet At $1 At AUD 8
Number does not win $1 lost $8 lost
Number wins, not a Lightning Number (29:1) $29 $232
Number wins, Lightning Number at 50× $50 $400
Number wins, Lightning Number at 500× $500 $4,000

Two more examples show how the rules combine. First, spreading stakes: $1 on each of five numbers costs $5 a round. Only one pocket wins, so at most one of the five bets pays; if that number was struck at 50×, the round returns $50 against $5 staked, and if it was not struck, $29. The other four bets lose either way. Second, an outside bet: $5 on red pays at the standard rate for red when a red number wins, exactly as on any other roulette table in our lobby, and the multiplier on a Lightning Number does not touch it even if the winning number happened to be struck.

The 29:1 figure is the trade. A straight-up win on a number that was not struck pays less here than on a conventional roulette table, and the Lightning multipliers are funded from that difference. Compare the straight-up odds printed on another roulette table in our lobby and the gap is visible. Neither design is better in the abstract; they are two ways of distributing payouts across the numbers, and the choice between them is a matter of taste for large, rare results against steadier ones.

How roulette counts toward bonus wagering at Vegas Now

Our general bonus terms, dated 26 February 2024, give each game type a contribution rate: slots 100% with listed exceptions, roulette 25%, blackjack and game shows 10%, baccarat 0%. Every $1 staked on Lightning Roulette therefore counts as $0.25 toward a wagering requirement. The welcome package covers the casino and live casino, so the table is eligible; it is simply slower than a pokie.

The Vegas Now welcome bonus page uses this example: a $100 first deposit, a 150% match of $150, and a 40× requirement of $6,000 to be wagered within seven days. On roulette, $6,000 of contribution needs $24,000 of stakes. At the AUD 8 maximum bet that is 3,000 spins, or about 429 a day for seven days; at $2 a spin it is 12,000 spins.

Where the $6,000 is wagered Contribution Stakes needed Spins or rounds at AUD 8
Pokies not on the exceptions list 100% $6,000 750
Roulette, including Lightning Roulette 25% $24,000 3,000
Blackjack and game shows such as Crazy Time 10% $60,000 7,500
Baccarat 0% Does not count —

The published cap matters more on this table than on most. Winnings from a deposit bonus are capped at $5,000 or equivalent per offer. An AUD 8 straight-up bet struck at 500× returns $4,000, inside the cap; a second result of that size while the same bonus is active would take the total over it, and the cap, not the wheel, would decide what can be cashed out. Three further conditions apply: one active bonus at a time, seven days of validity, and under our account terms the deposit must be wagered three times before related funds can be withdrawn, with or without a bonus.

Why live games are a slow way to clear a bonus

The arithmetic is the whole explanation. At 25%, four dollars must be staked for every dollar of progress, so the $6,000 requirement is $24,000 of roulette stakes against $6,000 on a pokie. At the AUD 8 ceiling each spin adds $2 to the requirement. A live wheel also sets its own pace: a betting window, a spin, a settlement, and then the next window, with the seven-day clock running whether or not you are seated.

Lightning Numbers do not change this. A multiplier can enlarge a win, but the contribution is calculated on the stake, not on the result, so a $500 payout from a $1 bet still moves the requirement by $0.25. Nor does a losing run mean a number is owed; each spin is settled on its own, and the wheel keeps no account of what came before.

That leaves a choice. If roulette is the game you came for, our general terms allow a bonus to be declined, which removes the AUD 8 cap, the seven-day clock and the requirement, though the three-times deposit wagering rule still applies before a withdrawal. If you want the bonus, clearing most of it on pokies at 100% and keeping roulette for play without a target is what the rates reward. Blackjack and the game shows sit lower still at 10%.

Loyalty points from roulette at Vegas Now

Our loyalty programme has seven levels themed on Las Vegas venues, with points earned through real-money play. The published earning rates are 1 redeemable point and 1 status point per $25 wagered on slots, 1 point per $100 on roulette, and 1 point per $250 on blackjack and baccarat. On Lightning Roulette, then, $100 of stakes earns 1 point whatever the result of the spins.

Worked through, the $24,000 of roulette stakes that clears the $6,000 welcome example earns 240 points. In the Loyalty Store, 200 points buy a $5 bonus at the starting level, Golden Glimmer, so that run of play converts to one $5 bonus with 40 points left over. The loyalty page also gives the example of saving 2,000 points for $60 rather than taking lots of $5; on roulette that is $200,000 of stakes. Higher levels exchange at better rates, with 750 points for AUD 20 at Parisian Palace Las Vegas and 100,000 points for AUD 5,000 at Bella Vista in the published table. Every bonus exchanged from points carries 40× wagering, and the contribution table above applies to clearing it.

One pattern is worth noticing. The three published rates track the contribution rates: $6,000 on slots earns 240 points, $24,000 on roulette earns 240, and $60,000 on blackjack earns 240. Clearing one 40× requirement earns the same points whichever of the three you use; what changes is how much must be staked to get there. Level thresholds and the VIP Lounge are described on the loyalty and VIP page.

Playing Lightning Roulette on mobile

Lightning Roulette runs in the phone browser; there is no native App Store or Google Play app and no APK. The video stream, the layout and the lightning animation all work in Safari and Chrome, and the site can be saved to the Home Screen so that it opens like an app: in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen and Open as Web App; in Chrome, open More, then Install or create a shortcut. The Vegas Now mobile page has both sets of steps.

A live table needs a steadier connection than a pokie, because the betting window closes on the presenter’s schedule, not yours. Place bets early in the window rather than at the close, and set a deposit limit in the account before the first spin.

Common Lightning Roulette mistakes

  • Expecting a multiplier on an outside bet. Red, black, odd, even, dozens, columns and the inside group bets pay as standard roulette. Only a straight-up bet on a Lightning Number is multiplied.
  • Treating 500× as the usual result. The multipliers run from 50× to 500× and are drawn at random each round, on one to five numbers.
  • Taking 29:1 for the standard straight-up payout. It is the figure for this table, and it is what pays for the multipliers.
  • Betting above AUD 8 with a bonus active. The cap applies to every bet while any bonus remains on the account.
  • Assuming full contribution. Roulette counts 25%; a $6,000 requirement needs $24,000 of stakes.
  • Chasing a number that feels due. Each spin is settled on its own. A run of misses changes nothing about the next pocket.

Responsible play

Vegas Now is operated by Just Entertainment B.V. under Curaçao Gaming Authority licence OGL/2024/164/0246, and play is for people aged 18 and over. Roulette runs in short, repeating rounds, and a 500× animation is built to be memorable; neither should change a budget decided before the first spin. Set deposit limits in your account and use self-exclusion if play stops being entertainment. Our responsible gambling page explains the tools.

Lightning Roulette at Vegas Now: questions and answers

What does a straight-up bet pay on Lightning Roulette?

29:1 if the winning number was not struck, so $29 for a $1 bet. If it was a Lightning Number, the bet pays the multiplier instead, from 50× to 500×, so $50 to $500 for the same $1.

How many Lightning Numbers are there in a round?

Between one and five, each with its own multiplier drawn at random from 50× to 500×.

Do red, black or dozen bets get the multiplier?

No. Every bet other than a straight-up bet pays as standard roulette, whether or not the winning number was a Lightning Number.

How much does roulette count toward bonus wagering at Vegas Now?

25% under our general bonus terms dated 26 February 2024. A $6,000 requirement needs $24,000 of roulette stakes, and the maximum bet while a bonus is active is AUD 8.

How many loyalty points does roulette earn?

1 point per $100 wagered. $24,000 of stakes earns 240 points; 200 points exchange for a $5 bonus at the Golden Glimmer level, and that bonus carries 40× wagering.

Is XXXTreme Lightning Roulette available at Vegas Now?

Yes, it is listed in our live-casino lobby. This page describes Lightning Roulette only; the two are separate tables with separate rules.

Can I play Lightning Roulette on my phone?
